The practice has recently acquired an Essilor Eyecode instrument – an all in one frame measuring system which is five times more accurate at measuring patients for spectacle lenses.

The Eyecode insturment allows the patient to have a truly personalised lens through the measurement of the Eye Rotation Centre. This non invasive technology – which does not require drops – takes two images of the patient’s eye to determine the perfect lens size and is accurate to 0.1mm.

Alongside the practice’s wide range of spectacle frames and lens optio ns, this technology allows the patient to have truly personalised spectacles – both in style choice and size.

Eye Care 21: 21st Century Eye Care

Eye Care 21 is a new and exciting concept in patient care, providing patients with a more detailed and comprehensive Eye Examination than the standard NHS sight test.

Over the past 12 months, the practice has invested over £70 000 in optical equipment in order that our patients receive the most detailed Eye Examination possible. Eye Care 21 patients benefit from this new optical equipment as standard, in every Eye Examination. An additional benefit to Eye Care 21 patients is a 30% reduction in the cost of spectacles.

We are delighted to announce that we were successful at this year’s National Optician Awards.

G.T. Harvey: Indpendent Practice of the Year 2011

We were shortlisted for the award in four categories: Independent Practice of the Year, Dispensing Optician of the Year, Sports Vision Practice of the Year and Technology Practice of the Year.

We were ecstatic to win two categories, Independent Practice of the Year and Dispensing Optician of the Year. We were the only practice to achieve two awards at this year’s ceremony. These award eclipsed our success in the previous two years when we were runners up in Independent Practice of the Year and Technology Practice of the Year.

Principal Optometrist, Stuart Henderson, said ‘We were delighted to reach the final of this prestigious national competition for the third year running. Lesley Oglethorpe also won Dispensing Optician of the Year, an award which recognises her wealth of experience, her interest in many areas of optics and the tremendous service she gives to our patients.
