Eye Care 21

At G.T. Harvey & Partners we have always been great advocates of a thorough N.H.S. Sight Test/Standard Eye Examination and we will always strive to fulfil this to the best of our abilities to all patients. Recent advances in eye care technology have now made it possible to provide a far more sophisticated eye examination than ever before.

Many patients will have already reaped benefits from the Digital Retinal Camera which we installed in the Practice in 2001. This has proved to be a great clinical tool for monitoring the overall health of the retina at the back of the eye. Subtle changes that commonly take place are much more accurately examined and monitored using this form of examination – not only retinal changes but also general health changes.

Investing in the latest technology

Over the last 12 months we have invested over £70,000 in order that we can now offer to our patients the highest possible standard of eye care. OCT stands for Optical Coherence Tomography and is the complex technology used to examine the eye and, in particular, the layers of the Retina. An OCT scan is similar to a MRI or CAT Scan. The 3D image allows us to see, sometimes for the first time, problems within your eye that could not easily be seen before. This will revolutionize not only the detection of conditions including Glaucoma, Macula Degeneration and Diabetic Macula Oedema but also the monitoring of these conditions.

Using OCT we can pick up any problems at a much earlier stage, usually allowing you better treatment options and a better visual outcome.

Spread the cost of your Eyecare and Eyewear

Eye Care 21 is a new and exciting concept for patient care. It allows patients to take advantage of all these advances in technology to gain a much more detailed and comprehensive eye examination. Patients will be seen annually for a full Eye Care examination which will include all the normal tests performed in the standard examination plus:

Eye Care 21 will also include any other appointments required throughout the year, such as repeated visual fields or emergency appointments for such things as flashing lights and floaters or if the patient feels the vision is changing.

We feel this is taking eye care forward into the 21st century and enables us to increase our standard of eye care to a new level.

Eye Care 21 involves a small monthly fee of £8.95 or an annual payment of £107.40.

Very importantly as the cost of spectacles will not be subsidising the examination as it does for the Health Service at the present time, there will be a 30% reduction in the cost of spectacles for all Eye Care 21 patients. This is independent of the number of pairs of spectacles the patient has, however unfortunately cannot apply to the already discounted sunspec range. Eye Care 21 offers patients the opportunity to make significant savings on the cost of their eye wear and extends the boundary of eye care.

All the supplementary examinations involved in Eye Care 21 can be paid for separately on top of the normal eye examination fee should the patient not wish to join the plan. These patients will obviously not receive the discount on their spectacles. While the Plan must run for a minimum of two years, it is intended that it will run on and will become the standard way of funding the high quality eye care that we strive to provide. When making an appointment please state if you wish to join Eye Care 21 as additional time will be allocated for you. The annual Eye Care 21 examination will take approximately one hour plus any additional time required for dispensings.

Eye Care 21 will meet all your eye care needs as well as substantially reducing the cost of your eye wear.
